Many people are afraid to put there dogs in crates, this confuses me because once you train your dog to know that in their crate nothing can go wrong, they end up crawling in there whenever they want a sense of safety.

So why not start today? An easy simple way is to reward the dog when quiet by giving he/she a treat, letting he/she out, or petting him/her. But you might be saying, "my dog barks all the time!" An easy, cheap, and effective way is getting a spray bottle and filling just the bottom of the bottle with vinegar (you can use more if needed)  then mix with some water and just squirt them when they bark to discourage unwanted behavior.

You still might not feel up to it because he/she freaks out. That's alright, you pulling them back out is encouraging the bad behavior, so put a dog bed in, maybe a bone to chew on and cover the crate with a blanket to give them a warm feeling of safety.

You might just  not want to punish your little bud but i can assure you that they do not mind calming down one bit (: so give it a shot if some of this didn't turn out the way you thought it would just comment and I'll ake sure to get back to you!

I tend to your dog like its one of my own, they don't sit on the "waiting list"  soon as you say bath or brush were on it and even if there's a brushing of the teeth, we don't mind at all! so come to the experienced and welcoming Allie's Walkabout!

As Northern Kentucky's pet sitter, I want to see all dogs and cats stay in a place that's as much like home as possible. As nice a places like Pet Suites in Erlanger, KY might be, it's not like your home is it? Why put your pal through that type of stress when you don't have too.

Look at this little guy. You don't want your buddy looking at you like that do you?

This is Scooter sleeping with my brother.
We really do treat them like you do!
If you've never had your pal stay with me, let me help you understand the difference.

When you choose me as your pet sitter:
  1. Your pet will hang out like he's a part of the family
  2. Snuggle with us on the couch or sometimes in bed
  3. Play with other dogs
  4. Lay next to the door like they do at home
  5. Be walked at not additional charge (typically every couple of hours)

If you're looking for a pet sitter, instead of a kennel you have come to the right site. (While you're here, go out to my Facebook page and become a fan.)

Charlie is a 5 lb Chihuahua that I foster. He is a puppy mill dog and he's just great. We've taken care of Charlie for about 6 months and if there was ever a puppy that deserved a good home it's him. If you know someone that would like to adopt a cute dog, would you forward this page to them?

Thanks,
Allie

Welcome to 2012!

At the start of the new year, there are a lot of promises made in the form of resolutions.  Here are a few that would make 2012 a better year for your pal.

  1. Feed Better Food - My dad used to work for Dinovite a nutritional supplement for dogs and cats. Well, he learned a ton and helped me understand what's best for our dogs. Out two labs, KC and Niki mostly eat a raw diet. In the winter they get raw deer (it's hunting season you know) and in the summer, we make the a homemade mix using hamburger meat, but they still eat it raw...they LOVE it and they haven't been healthier. Here's a link to Mrs. Lukacevic's video (she's the owner of Dinovite) for creating the raw mix.
  2. More Exercise - Dogs shouldn't be round and it should be very easy to feel their ribs. There should be a noticeable "tuck" when you view them from the side - a very clear rise from their chest to their abdomen.
  3. More Disipline/Obedience - Dogs LOVE to please us and they feel most secure when they know what the boundaries are and what to expect from you and I. Take time with you buddy to teach him some of the basics and then reward, reward, reward.
  4. Better Hygiene - Regular baths, keeping claws trimmed neatly and, since I have labs I know this one, keep their ears clean. Brush them regularly, apart from keeping the fur from flying, it is great for their skin and coat
  5. Feed Healthy Treats - Have you ever read the ingredients in some of those things? YUCK! Some treats are more trick than treat. Here's a good tip. Buy a beef liver at the store, boil it and cut it into the right size bites for your pal. She'll love it!
There you are, 5 Resolutions for a Happy New Year for You and Your Pooch!
